Nancy Marlene Friese’s work has been represented by established galleries in New York, San Francisco, Boston and Philadelphia. Her works are in fifty corporate and museum collections including the National Museum in Women in Art, the Los Angeles County Museum and the Portland Art Museum. Her landscape works have been included in shows at the Barbican Center in London; Brandts Klaedefabrik in Odense, Denmark; Bronx River Art Center; Chrysler Museum; Everson Museum; Herbert Johnson Museum of Art; International Center of Print New York; The New York Public Library; Snug Harbor Cultural Center; and Tokyo’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Friese received three National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships, including the US/Friendship Commission six-month grant to Japan where she studied Japanese stroll gardens and national parks. Nancy was awarded the CAA and Reader’s Digest Giverny Grant for a six-month residency at Claude Monet’s home. She received a Blanche E. Colman Award, a George Sugarman Foundation Award, and a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Award for painting. Friese has a studio in downtown Providence, Rhode Island and a studio in the rural Red River Valley, North Dakota.
